I try. I really do try and pay attention in class but I've come to terms that it's impossible to sit and listen to a lecture. See, when you study abroad you want to learn outside of the classroom. You want to travel, meet people from all over the globe, and experience another culture. Basically, you want to go on field trips not sit through power points. During my two hour lecture today I was tempted to raise my hand and say, "Excuse me. I need to leave. You're taking away my travel time. Thanks."
Being 'bit by the travel bug' is taking it's toll on my study habits. Why spend excessive time on class readings or studying when you have pass/fail credits?! I vented to my sister about this. "Sarah, I'm worried because I've lost my desire to do well in the classroom. I'll survive this semester but AHHH what about my final year?"
Sarah, who studied abroad last year and is in her final year at WVU laughed and said, "Becky, BE AFRAID...BE VERY AFRAID!" (In her classes she's daydreaming about grad school overseas)
The bugs gotten so bad that I'm thinking about putting off grad school for a year and traveling the world. I just love experiencing other cultures. I don't want to have regrets when I 'grow up' and start getting tied down with a job and responsibilities. I don't want to say when I'm 70+ years old, "I really wish I would have traveled more when I was younger."
